We call church, and Grim says it needs everyone’s attention, so we follow him inside the room and close the door. “Carter is trying to go after Arthur Taylor. Arthur’s informant tipped him off right before his warehouse was raided earlier today. Luckily, he got all the weapons out in time, but it was a close call. Now, Arthur is screwing. He wants to meet ASAP.”

“Why don’t I know about this?” I snap.

“Maybe cos you were too busy screwing the reason we’re all in this mess?” growls Crow.

“It’s because I turned up to do some work for him right after the raid,” says Grim, indicating for Crow to shut up. “He was after blood, so I had to tell him some of what’s happened. I gotta warn you, Pres, he ain’t too happy about all this.”

“Fuck,” I hiss. The last thing I need is the Taylors on my back. “Right, set up a meeting.”

“He’ll pull out the deal,” says Crow, “then how will we fund this bullshit with your latest whore?”

I’m too quick when I rush at him this time. No one stops me as my fist crashes against his jaw. He lands in a heap on the floor, spitting blood from his mouth. “I can’t take any more of your shit, Crow. I’m done making allowances. You wanna continue hating on me, do it from another club! Don’t sit at my table and speak about her like that!”

He grins up at me, his teeth stained red. “If you ain’t claiming her, she’s open for whatever man.”

I hit him again, harder this time. “You touch her and I’ll gut you like a fucking fish. She’s mine. That goes for any of you fuckers. Rylee is mine, she belongs to me, and I’ll kill anyone who tries to take her!”
